The open-plan kitchen, dining and living area is a bright and airy room with three windows and a door opening onto the balcony.

The fitted kitchen area has a built-in oven, an induction hob and a capacious fridge-freezer. There’s plenty of cupboard space and a good sized worktop. It’s equipped with good quality crockery, cutlery, glassware and cooking utensils to make cooking for yourself and eating in as easy as possible. Adjacent is the circular dining table and four bentwood chairs.

The sitting area has a comfortable sofa, an easy chair, a coffee table and a 24 inch tv with freeview and web apps including BBC iplayer and Youtube. There’s also a Bose Soundwave which connects to your phone or tablet so you can play your own music.

The west-facing balcony is a suntrap in the afternoon and evening on days when the sun obliges. There's some outdoor seating and a bistro-style table.

The main bathroom has a washbasin, loo and bath with shower over.

The rear bedroom has a 140cm double bed, bedside cabinets and a small chest of drawers. The front bedroom has a 160cm kingsize bed, bedside cabinets, chest of drawers, and an en-suite shower room with loo and washbasin. Both bedrooms have a DAB clock radio and bedside lights.

A small room off the main corridor houses the washer/dryer, and an airer is to be found in the airing cupboard.

The apartment has wifi internet access. There is a timer-controlled electric heating system, and heated towel rails in the bathrooms.

In the courtyard area to the rear there’s an allocated parking space, so you can be sure that you can park however busy it is in Hay.

Rental rates include bed linen, a hand- and bath towel per guest, and end-of-stay cleaning.

Sorry, but we don't accept pets.

Hay-on-Wye sits right on the Welsh side of the border with England, so can truly be described as being in the borderlands. Head east from the apartment about 150 metres and you will cross the Dulas Brook which marks the line. Set in the valley of the Wye, it's surrounded by wonderful countryside: the majestic Black Mountains which rise up to the south, the Brecon Beacons just 20 miles west, and the wild, beautiful Radnor Hills to the north.
